Created by David S. Haiman and Marta Vizueta Bohorquez, Movement Matters seeks to create more effective and sustainable community change work by providing tailored training and technical assistance that builds lasting skills and core capacities in a culturally competent setting. David and Marta bring over 25 years of hands-on experience in nurturing, developing and growing local and national programs and organizations and accompanying individuals in conciousness raising and leadership skills development.
:: Current Projects
Aside from its continued work with local and national groups, Movement Matters is providing tailored technical assistance to grantees receiving funds through the Collaborative for Education Organizing (CEO). CEO, a funding collaborative (including Gates, Meyer, World Bank, Community Foundation, and Hill Snowdon), is designed to develop the District’s community organizing capacity for education reform. In partnership with the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, the Movement Matters team is building staff and organizational capacity in 5 area non-profits to engage parents, students, and community members in coordinated efforts to increase the effectiveness of the D.C. public school system.
